Mystic Valley Gun Club provides a rigorous basic firearm safety course, led by NRA and State Certified Instructors, meeting the Massachusetts resident requirement for firearm training. Successful completion earns you an official certificate recognized by state standards.
The course fee is $150, payable in advance by check, money order, or credit card (in-person only); cash is not accepted. Training spans four consecutive Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 9:30pm, demanding commitment and focus. Enrollment is open to candidates who meet eligibility criteria.
All essential equipment—firearms, ammunition, targets, safety glasses, hearing protection, and course materials—is provided by the club. Live-fire range exercises are conducted under stringent supervision in a controlled, safety-first environment. Individualized instruction is available as needed to ensure mastery of critical skills.

This program serves as the perfect "next step" for guests who have completed the NRA Basic Pistol Course or equivalent training. Designed to build on foundational skills, it covers essential techniques such as safely drawing from a holster, engaging multiple targets and shooting on the move. Beyond providing a comprehensive introduction to practical defensive pistol methods, this course also equips you with the fundamentals needed to excel in dynamic "action-style" pistol competitions, including IDPA, USPSA, and IPSC.
Guest must supply: Ammunition, targets, eye and ear protection, strong side outside the waist band holster, (we do allow shooting from low ready) and at least two magazines.

Our instructors bring a wealth of expertise as active action pistol competitors, NRA-certified instructors, experienced coaches and range safety officers. Many of our graduates have gone on to compete successfully in USPSA and other thrilling action pistol sports.

This is your chance to work one on one with an experience coach on the range in a “Live Fire” training session.

Throom shooting is a unique competitive discipline that uses reactive, self-healing targets made from a durable polymer. Throom targets (snap back) when hit, providing instant visual and audible feedback without ricochet risk. This makes it a safe, engaging and eco-friendly option for shooters looking to sharpen their speed and accuracy in a fun, dynamic setting.
Participants will learn drawing from the holster, belt setup, emergency and tactical reloads, rapid fire, recoil management, malfunction clearing, target engagement, situational awareness, shooting from cover, strong/weak hand shooting, introduction to movement and economy of motion.
The program is held one Monday night a month from September to June from 6pm to 9pm (check the calendar for dates) and open to all members of MVGC and their guests. Members must accompany their guests.

The program fee is $10.00 per person.

The program is subject to rigorous oversight to ensure the utmost safety of our members and their accompanying guests.
On scheduled Wednesday evenings (check the club calendar), PCC deployment is permitted on the auxiliary range under the strict supervision of MVGC instructors or Range Safety Officers.
MVGC authorizes the deployment of Pistol Caliber Carbines in the following calibers: 9mm, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .40 S&W, .44 Special, .44 Magnum, .45 ACP, and 10mm, restricted exclusively to the auxiliary range during the Pistol Caliber Carbine Program.
This is the only time Pistol Caliber Carbine deployment is allowed is at this club sanctioned program.
Any member or guest of a member using a PCC outside this program will be subject to severe disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from the club.
Participants are required to provide their own PCCs, ammunition, paper targets, and mandatory eye and ear protection.

The program is open to retired law enforcement officers for both members and non-members according to HR 218 and MA 515 CMR 6.00. The purpose of 515 CMR 6.00 is to provide rules and regulations governing the certification of qualified retired law enforcement officers and instructors for the purpose of complying with the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004, 18 U.S.C. Section 926C and as additionally amended.
In order to obtain a LEOSA Qualification card, the student must meet the statewide standards for qualification in firearms training as established by the Municipal Police Training Committee. The card is valid for a one-year period and must be renewed annually.

The fee shall be $60 for members and $100 for non-members and conducted on the auxiliary range. Dates and times for qualification can be arranged to accommodate your needs. All proceeds will be retained by MVGC.
